USOIL vs CL1! vs CME WTI
| Name | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| USOIL (TVC:USOIL) | TradingView's WTI CFD series | A quick view of the WTI price |
| CL1! (NYMEX:CL1!) | Continuous front-month futures | Following the traded contract |
| CL | NYMEX WTI futures, 1,000 barrels | The contract itself, listed by CME Group |
| EIA Cushing spot | Official daily spot price | Historical records and research |
CME Group owns NYMEX, which is why "CME WTI", "NYMEX WTI" and "CL" all refer to the same market. A continuous chart such as CL1! joins one contract to the next at each expiry, so it can show a jump on a roll date that nobody actually traded. See the WTI futures contract specifications for sizes, ticks and the expiry rule.
Reading the Chart
- Trading hours: WTI futures trade Sunday to Friday, 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET, with a 60-minute daily break. Gaps often appear at the Sunday open.
- Scheduled moves: API inventory estimates arrive on Tuesday afternoons and the EIA report on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. ET. The Cushing stock figure in that report often matters most for WTI.
- Compare with Brent: the WTI vs Brent charts show whether a move is US-specific or global.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is USOIL on TradingView?
USOIL (TVC:USOIL) is a West Texas Intermediate crude oil series that TradingView labels as CFDs on WTI. It tracks the WTI market closely and is quoted in US dollars per barrel, but its closing level can differ from the official NYMEX settlement.
Is USOIL the same as WTI?
Yes, in practice. USOIL is a chart symbol for the WTI price rather than a separate type of oil. Its quotes, and those of brokers using similar names, can differ slightly from the exchange price.
What does CL1! mean?
CL is the NYMEX WTI crude oil futures ticker, and the 1! suffix means the continuous front-month contract. CL2! is the second month.
Is this USOIL chart free?
Yes. The USOIL charts on this page are free TradingView widgets and need no account.
